Introduction Training and Accreditation Authorisation Ethics and SRE |
Each denomination is responsible for the authorisation, training, accreditation and support of its SRE volunteers. This page brings together the requirements of the different denominations in these areas as well as policy issues that affect all providers. |
SRE Training and Accreditation |
During 2008 a special project, An investigation into current training programmes, accreditation processes and ongoing support of SRE teachers across NSW, was commissioned and funded by ICCOREIS, and carried out by Mary Smith from the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The focus of the project was to gain an overview of training and support currently available to SRE volunteers, denominations and groups involved in SRE training. |
SRE Authorisation |
The authorisation of SRE teachers is closely linked with accreditation and training, and once again, each denomination has its own requirements. |
Ethics and SRE |
In September 2009, the St James Ethics Centre, in conjunction with the NSW Federation of P&C Associations, submitted a request to the NSW Minister for Education and Training, seeking approval for a pilot project to test the concept of an ethics-based complement to SRE in NSW primary schools. In early December, the NSW government approved the pilot, to be carried out in ten primary schools in second term, 2010. For the latest updates on the ethics pilot, see the News page. |
