Published Curriculum

Each local SRE provider authorises the curriculum to be used by its SRE teachers. This page provides a summary of the materials available from the major publishers of curriculum in NSW. ICCOREIS recognises these as the curricula most frequently used by providers of SRE in NSW.

Christian Education Publications

Beginning with God - for the first year of school.
Connect - for children in the second to final year of primary school, in a three year cycle.
Big Questions - an alternative to Connect for the final year of primary school.
Comprehensive teacher's manual contains lesson aims and outcomes, a range of activities for different learning and teaching styles, and CDs with songs, dramas and PowerPoint presentations. Student activity book contains worksheets for each lesson.

Resources for secondary school include Mistaken Identity, Lessons on Tap, Finding Your Way (years 7-8); Another Dimension (years 7-9); Your Sneaking Suspicions (years 8-10); No Turning Back (years 9-10); Hope for a Shattered World, A Spectator's Guide to Worldviews, A Spectator's Guide to World Religions (years 10-12).
Teacher's manual contains lesson aims and outcomes, key learning ideas and suggestions for extentions. Student handbook includes text related questions, historical backgrounds and discussions on how to apply the lessons.

GodSpace

GodSpace is a great Australian resource for SRE teachers, covering lessons for 4 to 12 year olds, all in the one lesson manual. The GodSpace team is committed to providing clearly defined lesson plans for teaching those with little or no Christian knowledge, whilst also providing choices for augmenting and extending the core lesson to best suit teaching styles and the children's needs.

ACCESS Ministries

Launch - for 4-6 year olds.
Trek - for 6-8 year olds.
Search - for 8-10 year olds.
Quest - for 10-12 year olds.
Something Else! - for 12-14 year olds.
Teacher's manual contains detailed lesson plans for each lesson as well as additional photocopiable worksheets, accompanied by colourful student workbooks. These SRE materials are biblical, colourful and relevant to today's kids. They have strong links with values education, a must for any SRE curriculum.

Catholic Church Sydney CCD

Christ our Light and Life - for kindergarten to year 6.
Early Stage 1 - kindergarten.
Stage 1 - years 1-2.
Stage 2 - years 3-4.
Stage 3 - years 5-6.
Teacher's manual contains lesson plans, blackline masters and activity solutions. The student activity book is accompanied by a home activity book, for parents to use to supplement the lessons taught in the SRE class.

Greek Orthodox Church

Two general curricula, covering kindergarten to year 7:
Thematic Curriculum focuses on one major theme for each year, such as The Life of Christ or The Old Testament;
Mixed Themes Curriculum allows for greater variety in lessons by addressing a number of themes during each year.
SRE curriculum is produced by the Pantanassa Monastery, and is available on CD or via download from the website.
